Term 3 Week 11

Last week of the term
It has been a long term and the girls have done really well and worked hard until the end! We managed to fit in quite a bit of art this week. There were 4 stations within the classroom. Jenni helped the girls make a maths flap book. There was a spelling table with independent tasks and the girls finished their teddy bear collages at another table - which look fantastic! I took a table group of girls to complete their Eric Carle (author/illustrator of books such as A Hungry Caterpillar) butterfly calendar art. You will hear more about this next term. Megan and Eliane manned the glue guns one of the days to help the girls to make peg dolls. We have discussed how in the olden days some families had to make their own toys. Maybe the girls may like to make a peg doll house out of a shoe box and furniture out of paper etc ...

Term 4 (from Messenger)
Summer uniform
Summer uniform will be compulsory for all students from the start of term four. There will not be a period of transition so dust off the hats and sandals for the start of the term. We remind girls and parents that cardigans and jumpers are not part of the street uniform – all girls must be in their blazers or dress.

Week 9 & 10

A S S E M B L Y
Firstly thank you so much to those who were able to attend assembly last Friday - I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! The girls did exceptionally well - it is hard to get up in front of such a large crowd. I was really so impressed with all the girls especially since we had to make some last minute changes due to time constraints. Here are some photos for those who were unable to come.

Finger Knitting
You may have heard that we have all had a go at finger knitting. We started off with quite a few "I can't-s" but after persevering it was wonderful to see the joy on their faces when they finally got it!

Basic Facts
During the last two weeks we have been focusing on basic facts. We made some basic facts flap books and have spent time asking our friends basic facts and seeing how fast they can answer.

Spring at last!
The ladybird houses that we made with Mrs Mason are now ready to be put outside in our Junior School garden and near the newly planted fruit trees.  We filled small sponges with nectar (sugar dissolved in water) and put them in our pots to help attract ladybirds. Mrs Mason hopes that the ladybirds will control the aphids and other pests that appear in the gardens. If you are around the back of the Junior School be sure to check out the Weta Hotels we put out earlier in the year - they usually have wetas in residence!

WEEK 10
Car Free Week -  Those who walk, bus or scooter 3 or more times this week will be invited to a hot chocolate and marshmallow morning on Friday.
Valley of the Voodons - The Year 6 production will be having a matinee performance at 1:30 next Wednesday afternoon. The girls will be able to attend this if you have ordered tickets.

Term 3 Week 7

This week we have had a much quieter week at school!

Here are a few photos of the girls working cooperatively in groups of three measuring each other's height and arm span. They compared their measurements with each other and found objects around the room of the same length.

Week 8 - There are no messages although do check last week's Messenger  (if you haven't already) as there are some 1FR photos from Howick Historical Village.
